About the Adams Morgan Partnership BID

The Adams Morgan Partnership Business Improvement District (AMPBID) is a nonprofit 501 (c) (6) organization established to enhance the quality of life for residents, visitors, employees, businesses and property owners in the commercial center of Adams Morgan.

Formed in 2005, the Adams Morgan Partnership BID (AMPBID), focuses on three key areas: cleanliness, safety and marketing. The streets and sidewalks are swept seven days a week, and our uniformed and trained Clean Team provides daytime safety benefits in the public realm. Our safety program also includes the coordination of hired off-duty MPD officers on weekend evenings to ensure the safety of nightlife patrons. AMPBID promotes the neighborhood locally and nationally, and organizes dozens of events that engage more than 35,000 people each year.

Services are funded by a self-imposed assessment on commercial property owners within the Adams Morgan neighborhood.

Clean

Our hardworking Clean Team maintains one acre of park space and 3.5 miles of sidewalk every day. In 2017 alone, the BID removed 39,454 bags of litter and 7,067 bags of recycling.

The Clean Team is funded in part by a grant from the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development http://dslbd.dc.gov/. Since 2007, this grant has enabled us to provide consistent and strategic cleaning services 365 days a year.

Safe

Adams Morgan is home to some of the most vibrant and bustling nightlife in the District of Columbia. Our security director oversees hired off-duty MPD police officers to patrol the Adams Morgan neighborhood on weekend nights. The program changes seasonally and due to special events in the neighborhood. The majority of RDO’s, or reimbursable detail officers, are hired by businesses in the neighborhood and held accountable by the BID’s security director.

In October 2007, AMPBID began hiring over-time Metropolitan Police Officers to patrol Adams Morgan streets through its Reimbursable Detail Officer program (RDO). On Friday and Saturday nights, these additional officers patrol Adams Morgan streets to send a message that the neighborhood is changing and that public safety is a priority. Additionally, we hire a Security Director to make sure the RDO program runs smoothly.

Marketing

AMPBID’s weekly electronic newsletter, website and regular flyers increase awareness of activities in Adams Morgan for business owners, property owners and residents alike.

Events

Dozens of creative and fun events draw families, music-lovers, cyclists and residents from around the region each year. More than 35,000 people engaged in Adams Morgan events in 2017 alone.
