| FreeBike to Work Day 2021––Join thousands of area commuters for the 20th annual free celebration of bicycling as a fun, low-cost, healthy and environmentally-friendly way to get to work. Riders can find work day pit stops around the metropolitan region in DC, Maryland and Virginia. The first 15,000 to register and attend one of the pit stops will receive a free Bike to Work Day T-shirt. Pit Stop information is available at www.biketoworkmetrodc.org
The 20th Anniversary of Bike to Work Day provides an opportunity for DC-area commuters to be part of a growing trend of bicycling to the job and participating in a fun and free event while saving money, reducing traffic congestion, and improving air quality. Commuter Connections, hosting the event in tandem with the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA), and a variety of local pit stop organizers, hope to reconnect residents – including essential workers and telecommuters – with bicycling as a form of commuting, exercise, and a way to encourage mental well-being.
To ensure participants and sponsors remain safe on the day of the event, all pit stop locations will employ safety measures in compliance with CDC guidelines; information is available www.biketoworkmetrodc.org/covid-safety-policies. There will be zero-tolerance mask enforcement, food and beverage (participating locations) on no-contact tables with factory sealed goods, social distancing requirements, one-way traffic flow, and hand sanitizer stations. Check-in times will be staggered and pre-selected, with 25-30 bicyclists per half-hour timeslot.
